Details

Not sure any lumberjack feasted on anything as good, but these 'American Originals' are genuine farmhouse cheeses, from the crème de la crème of US cheese producers. They have won a clutch of gongs from the American Cheese Society and at the World Cheese Awards. Be prepared to be won over.

SMOKEY BLUE
- 250g, Cow, Pasteurised, Vegetarian
Smokey Blue is the first of its kind in the world. Inspired by a chef, its flavour is derived from cold-smoking blue cheese over the shells of native Oregon hazelnuts. The result is a cakey yet smooth blue reminiscent of candied bacon. Sweet, nutty flavours envelope the rich milk, creating a crème brûlée sensation that is balanced by the earthy flavours of smoke and a hint of the toasted richness of a campfire.

PLEASANT RIDGE
- 250g, Cow, Raw milk
Hearkening back to the grand tradition of Alpine cheeses, this cheese is only crafted from May to October, while the farm’s cows are eating fresh pasture. Its deep, beeswax-yellow paste, savoury protein crystals, and slow, pineapple-sweet finish are unanimously beloved. Rich and hearty with complex layers of caramel and nuts, Pleasant Ridge Reserve is simply incomparable. It is the most awarded cheese in American history.

APPALACHIAN
- 250g, Cow, Raw milk
A semi-soft, Tomme-style cheese, made with the rich, raw milk of the farm’s Jersey cows. The flavour can best be described as bright and vibrant, with buttery overtones and a mushroom earthiness that recalls the depth of the aging cellars. The paste is supple and straw coloured and the texture is dense, velvety and lush, melting on the tongue.

GRAYSON
- 250g, Cow, Raw milk
With its distinctive reddish-orange rind and creamy paste, Grayson is the gold standard of a washed-rind cheese. Grayson has a supple, fudgy texture, becoming silky as it warms. Its rich paste is slightly sweet, with grassy notes and a solid earthy undertone.
