This selection manages to be both heaven-sent and wickedly tempting. The aromatic ‘Stinking Bishop’, combined with a light and luxurious ‘Golden Cross’, make for an angelic duet. But a touch of a wild side is provided by ‘Pitchfork’, a devilishly full and fruity Somerset Cheddar that rounds out this selection into one hell of a good cheeseboard. For a final flourish, they do say that Heaven is a place on Earth, and the melt-in-the-mouth Miller’s Earth crackers may prove just that.
Cow, Raw Milk
Cheddar is ubiquitous throughout the world, but precious few have truly earned the name. Pitchfork joins a select band of authentic, Somerset Cheddars. Moist and succulent in texture, it is full-flavoured with a hint of tropical fruit.
Stinking Bishop 220g
Cow, Pasteurised, Vegetarian
A silky-smooth, pungent cheese with a sticky, orange coat and a gooey paste. Its aroma has gained it notoriety but the flavour is rich, full, savoury and well-balanced.
Golden Cross 225g
Goat, Raw Milk, Vegetarian
Kevin and Alison Blunt make Golden Cross from the milk of their own goats, which are fed only on pasture or hay (no silage for them!). This ripened goats' milk cheese is first rolled in ash, then matured to develop a complex, yet subtle flavour. The texture is like ice-cream.
Miller's Elements Earth Crackers 100g
We chose potatoes to create a cracker base as friable as earth itself, with a texture that first crumbles then melts in the mouth. We added beetroot and spinach to give our cracker an earthy sweetness.
