Crottin

Sweet and mouth-filling, with notes of ‘hazelnut’.

Nurtured by Rodolphe to grow a soft, fluffy coat. As the cheese becomes firmer, the paste grows denser and the floral flavours are balanced by deeper, nuttier tones, but Crottin is delicious at all ages.

Product details

Crottin is one of the most famous of all the classic goats’ cheeses from the Loire. Once made, the cheeses go into the skilled hands of Rodolphe le Meunier, Master Affineur and winner of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France.

The young, fresh cheeses are nurtured until they have developed a soft, fluffy coat, turning more wrinkled with time; and at this point they can be enjoyed for their light, milky flavours.

Once the Crottin are matured further, they develop more intense, aromatic flavours and grow a bloom of white, grey, blue and green moulds. It is a true classic among the many French goats’ cheeses.
